Angels (Gr. angelos, ‘messenger’) aren’t disembodied spirits but were created by God, all at once, as a nearly innumerable multitude to minister for Him and to Him at some point before He built the earth (Job 38:4-7). There are at least three types of angelic beings, all with the appearance of men’s bodies; Cherubim with four wings and sometimes one, two, or four faces (Ez. 10:21; 41:18; Rev. 4:6-9; human/lion/ox/eagle) which guard sacred things, support the throne of God, and whose beauty was represented on the ark and in God’s temple (Gen. 3:23, 24; Ex. 25:18); Seraphim (‘burning ones’) with six wings flying about God’s throne praising and protecting His holiness like priests (Is. 6:2); and Angels with no wings, who interact directly with humans. God keeps angels invisible so humans won’t worship them (Rev. 19:10). While currently greater than humans, someday believers will rule over them (1 Cor. 6:2, 3)!
