Joseph, the son of Jacob, was the youngest of 12 boys. Because his father had him at such an old age, he grew up as his father’s favorite. Jacob, also known as Israel, made Joseph a robe or coat of many colors. When Jacob demonstrated his love for Joseph, his brothers became very jealous. Eventually, the brothers sold him into slavery for 20 shekels of silver. Then they told their father that Joseph was killed by a fierce animal. When you lie and hurt others, you dishonor God. While in Egypt, Joseph became a successful man. Eventually, Joseph was falsely accused of attempted rape and thrown in prison (Genesis 39:1-23). In prison—where Joseph spent a lot of time—he became even more successful. Time is the only resource that everyone has the same amount of and has the same value. It’s just a matter of what you are willing to invest into God’s kingdom that matters (John 9:4; Eph. 5:15-17; James 4:13-14). When you Honor God with your time, he will bless you, so use it wisely.
