The Sons of Korah recognized the desert climate of Israel can threaten the survival of wildlife like deer. Ideally, deer would find a stream rather than stagnant pool. This life-giving water helped deer not just survive but thrive during difficult times. Just as animals are designed to need water, humans are built to connect with God. Like a ‘living’ stream, human souls thirst (Heb. tsâmê', ‘to suffer from thirst’) to be filled by the living God (John 4:13, 14). Nothing in life can fill the emptiness of not knowing God! The highest drive of a believer should be to love God and give Him their best. Everything is nothing if God isn’t your everything (Matt. 16:26)!
